Personally I feel as though Ravana is obsessed with Sita. These stories remind me a lot of the dermal in destress movies, or kind of like King Kong. Something evil steals the woman and then the good guy has to go on a journey to save her from his evil clutches.
I did not think about it until last week, but making the characters into animals in my retelling would be interesting. I was thinking of doing a safari kind of theme, but, since this is India, animals native to India might be more appropriate and allow me to be more creative.
