One similar theme I noticed was that a tiger was always put in charge. Stags are also used quite often in the stories.
These stories seem as though the best style to rewrite them in would be a diary format. Each story is somewhat composed in chunks so a diary would be the best way to facilitate this. This seems as though it is the best way to keep the stories from becoming too long, but still make it interesting.
How the Cat came to live with Man was also a cute story. Similar idea to the dog one, but different in its own way (as it should be).
